About us

Our Journey

Initially, a few concerned residents coalesced as a group to express our collective concern about local issues. We felt local councillors had left these issues to languish. Indeed, the neglect of the lake and grounds in Church House Gardens is an example of a local issue neglected because political focus is elsewhere.

Our voice is stronger when it's magnified by community engagement. Our aim is to carry on, growing and gaining momentum, to bring positive change to the day-to-day lives of Bromley residents.

As a team, we embrace the principles of localism and people helping people, believing that those who live and work in Bromley are best placed to know what will improve their neighbourhood. While the political trend is on investing in national concerns, we are committed to shifting power away from central government. We look instead toward local residents and organisations, giving our community the tools and influence to shape its own destiny and ensure that decisions about local housing, services, and green spaces are made right here at home.

What We Stand For

Buy Local - Karma Capitalism

As a local business owner, our leader has launched a "Buy Local" campaign. Indeed,  we have started the ball rolling by purchasing our team's logoed hoodies from Stitch to Stitch - a local Bromley business.  Better Bromley has ambitious plans going forward into 2026 -  championing localism by supporting our community's independent businesses and showcasing local artisan and farm produce, thus bringing much-needed footfall into the town. By shopping and dining locally, you help ensure that money earned here recirculates within our own economy, rather than flowing out to distant corporations. This approach not only provides unique choices and quality products but also strengthens the social fabric and resilience of our town. Building partnerships between the town and rural farms and cottage industries in the borough helps to build a vibrant and connected place for all of us.

Creating Youth Hubs

Creating youth hubs in Bromley Town will provide young people with safe spaces for socialising, support, and development. Rebecca Blake, our Youth Engagement Officer, has extensive experience working with this age group as an Army Cadet Instructor.

What we are planning.

  • Engage with local young people, schools, and community groups to understand needs and potential locations.
  • Secure funding by exploring grants, partnerships with local businesses, and liaising with the council for bid funding
  • We will utilise existing buildings, such as community centres and repurpose underused spaces.
We will provide an eclectic mix of activities and services such as recreational, educational e.g. study help and support services such as career advice.

We already have young people involved at Better Bromley. This ensures youth input in planning and running the hubs - making the outcomes relevant and appealing.

If you are interested in getting involved in this exciting venture, please contact us via the contact page.

Tackling Elderly / Disabled Social Isolation

Social isolation can make the infirm, the elderly, and the disabled feel alone. This does not have to be the case. Improving life for elderly and disabled residents in Bromley involves addressing accessibility, support, and inclusion.

To feel socially included, more thought and effort need to go into planning, such as organising accessible community events and activities. The first step is to organise information and advice sessions and provide clear information on available services, benefits, and support.

Feeling alone? Please reach out! We would like to assist by helping you find services and advocate on your behalf.
